Another born and bred Northlander, Sam won the lottery and grew up in Russell, in the Bay of Islands. It’s no surprise that fishing, diving and surfing are favourite pastimes.
After flying the coup at 12 years old to board at Whangarei Boys’ High School, Sam earned himself a bachelor’s degree in marketing, finance, and entrepreneurship from Otago University. Several years of braving the Dunedin surf were enough and he returned to Whangarei seeking warmer water and a start to his career.
Sam cut his teeth in the transport industry as a graduate with Mainfreight before accepting a business support role with the local economic development agency. By now Sam had developed a keen interest in personal finance and was stoked to join the Zest team in 2021.
