Another born-and-bred Northlander, Sam hit the jackpot growing up in Russell, in the Bay of Islands. It’s no surprise that fishing, diving, and surfing are among his favourite pastimes.
After flying the coop at 12 years old to board at Whangārei Boys’ High School, Sam went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Finance, and Entrepreneurship from the University of Otago. Several years of braving the Dunedin surf were enough, and he returned to Whangārei in search of warmer water and the start of his career.
Sam cut his teeth in the transport industry as a graduate with Mainfreight before accepting a business support role with Northland Inc, the local economic development agency. By then, he had developed a keen interest in personal finance and joined the Zest team in 2021.
Now a fully qualified financial adviser, Sam specialises in mortgages and investments — areas he believes go hand-in-hand.
